Kunming- Spring City Golf and Lake Resort
Spread over 500 hectares, the resort has 5-star lodges (6 suites and 43 deluxe rooms), an 18-hole championship golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus, as well as all the standard facilities like a business centre, heated swimming pool, gymnasium, restaurants, spa and tennis courts. There is a well-furnished clubhouse with spacious lodges and fine dining facilities which have an impressive lake view. An additional 18-hole course designed by Robert Trent Jones Junior is slated to be opened by end 1998. Other upcoming developments include a water sports centre and China's very first Club Med, both expected to be ready by the year 2000.
Kunming InformationKunming is the capital of Yunnan Province in China where breathtaking lakes and beautiful hills glaze the countryside. It has a population of about 3 million people, small when you consider that Yunnan is China's sixth largest province with about 36 million people from over 25 minority ethnic groups. Among its many attractions are the Yunnan Provincial Museum, Buddhist Yuantong and Bamboo Temples, the mythical Stone Forest, Lake Dianchi and the East and West Temple Pagodas. There are also mosques as Kunming has a large Muslim community which dates back to the Yuan dynasty. And in keeping with the exotic Chinese cuisine, Kunming serves up spicy and interesting dishes that require some courage to sample. How does milk and rice cooked in bamboo pipes sound? Or wild mushrooms? For the tame hearted, try the special smoked fish instead.
