Reader's Travel Report: Sydney

Nicole Hannan was one of the lucky winners of a trip for 2 to Sydney, a package that was generously sponsored by Sedona Hotels in our recently concluded "Register and Win" lucky draw. Here's a short account of her time in Sydney...

by Nicole Hannan

After a long flight, my husband Tony and I arrived at last in Sydney, where it was cloudy and raining. After living in Singapore for 10 months, it took us a while to get used to colder weather again!

We took the transport to the hotel and after unpacking, went for a walk through King's Cross where the hotel was located, then to the harbour, as you can see in the photograph. After the harbour, we walked to the Rocks and then to the main shopping area.

On our second say, we took a ferry to Manly, one of Sydney's beach resorts in the north. At Manly, we went shopping a bit, then rollerblading along the beach. Afterwards, Tony made an appointment for a surfing lesson the next day at 7 o'clock in the morning! In the afternoon, we took a bus from Manly directly to the zoo where we caught a glimpse of local animals as well as other exotic ones.

The next morning we got up early for our first surfing lesson. The weather was cold and windy and I didn't feel like going into the water. But once we were there I changed my mind. Surfing proved to be more difficult than we thought at first but we did enjoy it so much that we came back the next day again. In the evening, we took our flight back to Singapore. I was quite sad to leave Sydney because we had such a good time there. I would like to thank the whole ExpatSingapore team for making this short break possible for us.
