Mohammed Sultan Road

The first bar appeared on Mohamed Sultan Road in 1992, named Front Page and owned by veteran landlord Peter Wong, who still owns various outlets in the surrounding area. As is the trend here in Singapore, other bars quickly sprung up on the stretch and it now offers a whole range of drinking holes from traditional shophouse outlets to trendy joints across the road at UE Square. However, the Chinese-style lantern pub trend that kicked off the Mohamed legend more than 10 years ago is slowly being replaced by trendy, minimalist bars with Indo-Chinese artifacts that bring a "zen" feel to the scene. Visit bars such as SiamSupperclub, Two Rooms and Front Page for a relaxing sit-down experience. Next Page tends to kick off from Thursday to Saturday with chart music and dancing and if you fancy dining under the stars, check out the lovely atmosphere at Unity Square (on Unity Street just off Mohamed Sultan), that offers bars, cafes and restaurants. Nightclub, Dbl-O offers great drink deals, dancing and a Pool Room that provides a number of top quality pool tables in a non-smoky atmosphere. Currently one of the hottest spots in the area is further down Mohamed Sultan at the Gallery Hotel where you can find classier joints. Whatever mood you're in you will find something on the stretch to suit, whether you want a quiet drink, a big party or a spot of supper under the stars.
