Wine
investment seems to have evaded the sluggishness
of its traditional investment counterparts,
proving a commodity that not only improves in
flavour over time but also value. Its grace
through the economic downturn is attributed to
supply and demand limited supply in relation
to increased wine consumption and investment
worldwide.
With
proper storage, premium wines can provide
investors returns comparable to traditional
investment options.
Turning Taste into
Profit
AWI will show you how to make that penchant for
wine collection into a profitable pastime by
constructing a portfolio of Australian fine wines with
promising investment performance.
AWI, Asia Pacific's leading fine wine broker, are
giving away four cases of fine and rare wine. These rare
and collectable wines are from two of Australia's finest
vineyards. The first are two cases of Penfolds Grange
Shiraz 1997 and the second are two cases
of d'Arenberg Coppermine Road Cab/Sav 2000.
Penfolds Grange
1997
From
humble beginnings in the 1950s, Grange has
maintained its place as Australia's most
prestigious red wine over four decades. Today, it
is a wine of international renown, with each
vintage eagerly awaited by collectors both in
Australia and overseas.
Penfolds Grange is a wine of
extraordinary dimension and power. Richly
textured, intensely concentrated and packed with
fruit sweetness, these wines, regardless of
vintage, require medium to long-term cellaring.
They develop into immensely complex, beguiling
wines that seduce the senses.
This is
another one of d'Arenberg's wines named after the
road which runs down by the side of that
particular vineyard. They source from this
vineyard a good proportion of their best Cabernet,
which goes into this classic McLaren Vale
red.
Over
the past 50 years, d'Arenberg has released its
High Trellis Cabernet to consistent acclaim. In
the 1990's they vinified a separate parcel of
Cabernet from the best fruit from the Coppermine
Road vineyard and the rest of the Osborn
vineyards. The best parcels of wine that make up
the Coppermine Road Cabernet mostly come from a
rare and nearly extinct extremely low-yielding
clone which is characterized by its violet and
anise perfume, concentration and great
acidity.
The 2000 Coppermine Road
awarded THE TROPHY & A GOLD MEDAL FOR
THE WORLDS BEST CABERNET. The UK
International Wine Challenge, September
2002.
