two gorgeous men in singapore, tall and handsome, both are in their early 30s with top-notch personality. one you know for sure that makes at least one million dollars a year, but does not drive a car; and the other drives a porsche, but you don't know how much he makes. everything else being equal, which one would you mostly likely pick as your mate? now if the one with the car is a european with no prior asian background, and the other is bilingual american with asian ancestry, would that revelation change your selection?

I don't see the point of this question. Why do you assume that money or signs of wealth are the things that attract a woman to a man...? Or is this another one of these posts to see who can get the most replies?!

why, if you read carefully, wealth is not the only concern here. they are both top-notch in their respective fields, and nice people as well. it's a serious question, it would be interesting to see how people choose, for money or else.

I would choose the european one since he is not contaminated yet by the asian.. hehehe (especially by the girls).. My choice will not only based on the money that he earns, but also with the personality and character. It is not easy to just pick the man for mate with those little infos. Need to get more info before deciding...

pps: the porsche guy seems to be already quite popular, while the other guy seems to be very low key, and does his own things. they are both new here.

If everything else being equal means they are both equally boring I wouldn't pick either of them!

suzie: what makes you think that they are equally boring? they could be equally interesting. think things on the bright side. wondering: i was asked by a friend of mine on the topic, who is a very intelligent gal, not materialistic at all, and yet she is facing the choices.

Well, well, well it would have been the guy with the Porshe, hands down - if you'd asked me this question 10 years ago. But like many who've posted, I'll definitely go for the one with an interesting personality & his bank account or car will rank very low in my consideration. Who knows they may both be gay & fancy each other! Bummer.

If your friend is not materialistic, perhaps we shouldn't be trying to help her on the basis of what sort of car one drives, or the salary of the other. Tell her to go for which one she prefers to spend time with. When dealing with human beings, all other things might be equal, but they are not similar. Most importantly she should make a decision. If she makes the wrong decision, so be it. But far better to have regrets about the decision she made, rather than regretting the decision she never made.

Curiosity. Didnt know if they were boring or not...thats the point!! Given that this was all you were prepared to say about them I assumed this was all they had to say for themselves which makes them boring in my book!!!!

I agree that they are probably both incredible bores. The person should pick neither. And they should stop going to places that are full of tired, rich boring men. When was the last time either of them read a book?

I would find out the reason why he doesn't have a car - if the reasoning is logical then that would be a plus point. Then I would try to find out why the other guy is driving a Porsche. The whole car issue can be an indication of the personality and character. It's a good indication of how people spend money and why. On a general note: I don't trust men who drive a Porsche [This message has been edited by Junebug (edited 17-08-2001).]
