Our maid is applying for a domestic job in Canada.  The agency charges $4500 before they will start looking.  I don't know whether this guarantees the maids a job.  However, that is a year's salary and as such I want to check whether this sounds bona fides.

Even if they say the amount guarantees a job, can this be right?  Is it that easy for a Filipino to enter Canada on a domestic visa (is there such a high demand)?

Just wondering whether this sounds OK to you.  I have seen maids preyed upon by numerous types of scams and am wondering whether this is another one.  Obviously, if it is bona fides, I can understand why the maid might want to pay (given, as I understand it, after 2 years the maid gets the right to apply for permanent residency).  But your thoughts would be appreciated.
