This is all about GUILT.  The guilt people feel when they hire a maid (often for the first time...) and as a 'servant' they can't grasp the concept in todays world that someone else should do their bidding for them and when some engage their servant to clean their toilets, wash the floors, do the laundry and sweep up the leaves, it does NOT extend to washing the car because that is the domain of the "driver" (if you have one which most don't because that is too extravagent...).  I can tell you the maid's duties is to amongst all the other chores is to wash the car.  In the early morning jog around the suburbs of Spore I ALWAYS see a maid or two shampooing the car (and sometimes the dog too...).  So what's wrong with that?  Nothing mate, just guilt.

maids wash'g cars??? Heck no! That is what my 9yo boy is for!! He grabs a quick $3 and I shampoo his hair at the same time (kinda like washing the dog). We are out together in the warmth of a sunday morning; the car gets cleaned; the boy gets cleaned; and instead of church...we go shopping!! (?)
