my 18mtn old niece will be staying with us for 2 weeks.  Are there any activities for this age group which I can involve her in.  Singing, dancing, music?

I don't have children so really don't know where parents take 18 month old children for stimulation.

Any ideas for caring aunt?

I would try a few easy day trips (the zoo for example - don't forget her swimmers!) and a child this age will enjoy the pool and the park. Easy stuff!

Music groups generally go for a term or so I think so they may not be of much help.

I probably wouldn't plan too much for her at this age, as toddlers can get pretty fed up with being carted around.

Probably the biggest thing will be to move anything in your house that is currently at a height below three feet!

You can join the kids Club at The Forum ($10) and use the indoor playground there. Check the opening hours though.

Bird Park is fun and has a great water play area. We often go for this aspect alone.

Aunty it is the simple things that will amuse your neice.

Remember the heat will probably get to her so plan for morning activities if outside.

Here are some ideas:
Some toy for the pool
Zoo
Birdpark
East Coast with the beach
The merlion
Wild Wild Wet (although you will be limited to where she can swim and what she can do)
The adventure park at Pasir Ris (next to wild wild wet) - again quite some limits on height

There is a book called Fun Singapore for kids - its cheap and has lots of ideas for kids

Also going out to McRitchie - not sure if the monkeys are hibernating from the heat at the moment but there's the turtles

The indoor play areas are a great idea as well - kids love rooms with balls etc

The playground at your condo - where she can interact with other children her age

What I tend to do is do some kids stuff and mix the adult things with that - as long as they can let out some of their steam they will tend to sleep in the pram while you do your things as well.

If you go out for dinner - take some colouring in books, toys that can keep her amused.

Hope some of this helps.

Couldnt agree more, simple things will amuse her no end.

Take her to Bugis Junction and let her run around under the fountain with the other kids.

Take her to the Suntec fountain and let her run her hand around the water.

Sg Zoo is absolutely brilliant..depending on where shes from the farmyard exhibit could be a revelation.

Remember kids that small get over hyper then fall down asleep in a second so do it in small doses..... if you plan on going to the zoo for a whole day you will almost certainly end up carrying a sleeping toddler home in your arms.
