Hi there,
Yesterday my son came home with a wound in his face, near to his mouth, cut by a nail. I thought it was from a kid, but my son said it was from his teacher, because he was crying much. He also showed me how the teacher pressed her nail very hardly into each of his hands.
My son is 2years and 7month old. He is quite active and naughty, and sometimes he is difficult, but still normal. But is that the consequence?
Today I called the principle, she said she'd do an inspection, but, to my astonishment, there is no sign that she appoligize!
I like most of the teachers, and I respect their career. And I am not a protective mum, but I mean,it is NTUC childcare, a governmental childcare, allow such teacher and such behavior?
I would like my child go to better school, but I cannot afford expensive ones. What I shall do?
Thanks so much for your taking time read it. and thanks for all your comments.

the Principle can not make an apology until she has investigated this. This is a serious matter. If they should get back to you and deny all knowledge that something happened I would remove my child immediately from this centre. If there is an apology and the teacher still remains, I would do the same thing - how can they ensure it wont happen again from this teacher? It doesn't matter if a child is so called 'naughty', they DO NOT deserve any physical or emotional abuse one trusts that teachers are trained in dealing with when behaviours get on their nerves.
If I was in my home country I would tell social services, maybe there is something similar here.. sorry to be not of more help.

If you are genuinely concerned for your son's safety and well-being then move him to another place immediately.

There are local pre-schools/nurseries that do not charge the earth and are very good. Have a look around - some are better than others, of course.

Also, have you asked the teacher about this?

I am sorry to hear of this.

But..
The only way you can show how serious this is  - is simply and immediately to remove your child from this centre.

If you do not remove your child - you are obviously not that concerned.

There are hundreds of childcares in Singapore  - and every network of parents have their favourites and horror stories.

Sorry to hear of this,....

my kid is around 2 yo too. very active and curous.  i inspect her whole body (during the 'before sleep bathtime') to see if there are any wounds inflicted on her as she's in the playgroup from 8am to 4pm.
I believe that no matter how playful or mischevious a child may be, he is UNLIKELY to lie about such things as nails being dug into them ... esp when he is only a mere innocent 2yo + kid.
if i were you, i will not let this matter rest till a reasonable conclusion is reached ...

Desperate Mom, get your child out of there asap!
Not all NTUC childcare are good. They are known to be cheap but you get a mixed bag. Some NTUC childcare have too many children per adult because its the cheapest childcare around so the adults cannot properly care for them.
Some moms have also complained that NTUC childcare does not equip their child for primary school and some kids have actually failed entrance to primary school because NTUC has failed to teach them the basics.
Although I believe the teacher really should be sacked for hurting your child,  be prepared to be frustrated. Obviously the reaction from the principal already shows you will not get the action that you want.
The quickest thing is to pull your child out before worse happens. He may be traumatised by this and will hate school, setting you up for more problems later on.
Next time make sure you put him in a childcare that has less children and more adult minders.

Hi,
How worrying for you.
You should contact the MCD (Ministry for Community Development, or /MOE (Ministry for Education) and report your concerns as soon as you can.

They will investigate independently which will take the onus off of you. They are responsible for the centres so they should sort any problems out.
