Hey! for you new Mom & Dads out there...check with your airline but United Airlines allows infants to earn frequent flyer mileage points, even though you only paid a fraction of the cost for the ticket.  

Josh, my 9 mos old son, flew to the States last month and has acquired 20,000 UAL points.  That's enough for a free adult intra-Asia ticket to Bali, Maldives, HKG, Shanghai etc.  It's a great benny...!!  So don't forget to check your airline when making those long trips home/overseas!!

Singapore airlines does not! Child has to be over 2 lah! (regardless of whether they have an infant ticket or are booked as a child (ie their own seat

Wow, we flew Star Alliance many times around the world with infant. So many lost poins... Mothers, beware.

SIA also does not award points if you get discounted tickets.
those great deal tixs you get at the travel agent might be in some class-code that SIA will not give out points for.

so you save $50 per ticket but you lose out on points which may give you a free bali trip.

many other international airlines have similar policies too.

Actually this is for any tickets for an under two year old as they will not accept enrolment into the krisflyer program until they are two...we did not have the cheap ticket variety...
