Hi!
So we finally have our tickets for Singapore. However, we are first going to stop i KL for a couple of days.

I am not too worried about the flight with my then, exactly 5 month old baby. He is rather easy to amuse, and sleeps a lot and easy. What scares me a bit is the arrival in KL (was never there) at 7 o'clock in the morning - hotel check in time, first at 2 o'clock in the after noon.  Not only are we going to be extremly tired, I can't sleep in a plane, after 12 hours flight, but then we sort of have to spend the day bofore we can check in...
and I have no clue where I can breastfeed, and gives me a lot of worries.... :-I

I will try and see if I  can find a similar forum for Kuala Lumpur.

Any tips, most wellcomed!

You may have already tried this, but how about calling the hotel, explaining the situation to them and that you are travelling with a small infant and asking if they could check you in early.

Even if your room isn't ready, it is possible that they might have a room you could use in the meantime, or they may allow you to use the hotel facilities for the morning?

reserve the night before in the hotel and go to your room as soon as you arrive. Saves you 8 hrs of hanging around.

Yup, reserving the night before is a good idea, and KL hotels in my experience are quite cheap, so it's not going to blow the budget.  Or the first post about phoning them and telling them the situation is also a good one.  They arrange late check-outs for people, so why not early check-ins?

I'm sure those 2.00pm check-in times are really for when the hotel is full, so they get time to clean the vacated rooms - I doubt the hotel will be full so it is worth asking.  Plus, by the time you arrive and collect your luggage and get there, it will probably be more like 9-10.00am.

Good luck with it, and re the breastfeeding, get a shawl or something so it's not so obvious and sit in quiet corners if you are worried about it.  If you are in hotels and restaurants, you can ask them if there is a quiet place to go to feed, and they can often be surprisingly accommodating about this.

I lived in KL and breast fed my children everywhere with no problems, my husband commented that taxi drivers saw more of my breasts then he did!  The only comments I ever had were from other women and they were always positive.  I did always find a quiet corner if we were in a cafe or restaurant and fed my baby from under my t-shirt rather than opening a blouse.  Another poster mentioned using a shawl to be discreet, I used a muslim nappy that I could also slip between the baby's head and my arm as they get very sweaty feeding in the heat here.
You may get more looks here than at home but it's generally because young women here don't breastfeed as much and they're generally curious about it, not because they dissaprove.

Thanks for the advices,
I have't thought of it myself - call the hotel, book in advance, get a shawl! :-)
I guess when you are a bit stressed, as we are now, arranging the move and so on, it is hard to think clear.

See you all moms in Singapore!

also want to arrange for the hotel to pick you up from the Airport - not alot of bucks and means you don't have to hang around waiting for a taxi. The Airport is a long way from the centre of KL.
