Finally, Australia has banned Jelly Sweets which have caused choking deaths in children, now at 15 worlwide. These sweets are still sold in Singapore and in the US among many other countries from what I can ascertain.  It was reported in the Straits Times on Saturday that Australia has taken the initiative to ban them and I'm hoping by posting this note you can all boycot the ones being sold here and spread the word among your friends.
They are the little coloured jelly sweets that come in a packet of assorted colours - they are in a little plastic container with a tear off lid (somewhat similar to the small milks often given in restaurants and aircraft).  These jellies contain a product called "Konjac" which does not dissolve in the mouth, hence the child cannot chew/swallow and chokes.
My children have been given them at friends houses and in party bags.....please, please, advise everyone you know how dangerous they are and STOP BUYING THEM.

Craving - I'm so  glad you've raised this...I also heard about the Jellies....can anyone tell me why they are still sold in Singapore and other countries?  Who do we complain to in order  to get them taken off the shelves?
