Any one got some good suggestions, themes, games, or whatever, for a first birthday party?

a few friends, balloons, cake and some kiddy music should do the trick nicely.  in my experience, don't even try playing games with them before the age of 4.  Having cake and a sing-a-long is about all they'll sit still long enough for!

Have a good time.

A friend of mine received a great gift for her son's 1st birthday party, which would also be a good "game" at a party. It was a sack(pillow case) filled with different balls of varying shapes, sizes and textures.
The other idea that I saw on this website that I thought was good was a helium balloon for each baby with a beanie toy at the end to weight it down.

Put the little ones to bed, invite some grown ups over and open up a bottle or 2!?

Your baby couldn't give a flying fig about his birthday and the person who deserves the credit for keeping him alive this long is you.  By all means have a cake and a few rounds of "Happy Birthday" at baby group but save the celebration for the ones who'll remember it.

Cheers!  And well done for surviving this difficult year with enough energy to even think about a birthday party!

totally agree with What about?  You'll have enough hassle and stress with future birthday parties, so make this a celebration for yourselves at surviving the first year!  We just had a bottle of bubbly and a cake to share with a few friends for our one year old's party.  He seemed perfectly happy!
