If you have a cold, would you still express and store your breastmilk for future feeds?

What IS the right thing to do?

Help. Advice much needed.  Thanks in advance

Yes, having a cold doesn't effect the quality of your breast milk, otherwise you would have to cease feeding each time you got sick! The only contraindication I know to this is if you contract a fungal infection of the breast- then you keep breastfeeding whilst you take medication, but I wouldn't store milk for a while.
Your breast milk is full of antibodies that benefit your baby, with strong antimicrobial properties. I think of it as liquid gold!
Best wishes and happy feeding.....

To answer your question: yes, u can still bf n express bm while having a cold/flu. It may benefit your bb bcos the antibodies that your body produces will be passed on to him/her. For medication, u can take chlorpheniramine (piriton), which is available w/o prescription at local pharmacies.
