Hello everyone
We just moved here a week ago from San Francisco.  We're currently living right off of Orchard Rd--on Cairnhill.  My daughter is now 2 1/2 and I would like to find out where I can bring her for playgroups.  She has many food allergies and environmental ones so it would have to be something that doesn't involve snacks!    Thanks in advance.  Jen

Welcome to Singapore. I am also from the US. We moved here from Houston. I find Singapore offers many things for children to do. I would say that MANY moms join St. George's playgroups. St. George's is located off Napier Road (by the American Embassy). I'm not sure of contact details, but you may want to also try the New Mother's Support Group. Their website http://www.nmsg-singapore.com/index.html.  I think on their website they have a link to St. Geroge's. There is also Gymboree, Kindermusik and various pre-schools which offer playgroups.

Welcome-I was just in San Fran 2 weeks ago!  Did the drive south down to Carmel, it was beautiful!

St. George's is a good place to start.  The gymboree and kindermusik are good, but a bit pricey, but so is San Fran so it may be what your used to.

St. George's is a good place to start as they don't allow your maids/helpers to bring the kids to their playgroup, which a lot of other activities tend to get overrun by maids and the mom's stop coming.

I have a 2 1/2 year old boy and he loved St. Georges.   Good luck!

I tried the suggested website above, but it does not work...  I would like to know if St. George is still an active playgroup, and how can my child and I join?  Thanks.

here's the direct link for St George's Mothers Support Group...don't think it'll get deleted since its a non-profit thing.

there are so many things to do with a 2.5years old.

I think it is the Young Parents Magazine that has a listing of enrichment classes, pre-nursery groups, too.

The New Mothers' Support Group and the St George's Playgroup have booklets too of these playschools.

Also, look thru' the other threads/topics raised in this message board and you'll find plenty of recommendations.

one thing to note: I briefly went to St Georges with my (allergic) child and there were lots of snacks about (all the time, not just at a set snack time). They may be amenable to a request from you not to allow people to feed their kids in the room, but you might not feel comfortable making such a request.
