I'm not sure if this topic has been discussed before, but anyway, I would like to know what kinda exercises that pregnant woman can do, others than walking?

Swimming and yoga are ideal during pregnancy, though tell your yoga teacher you are pregnant as there may be some exercises you should avoid in the first trimester.  Anthing jarring e.g. jogging and aerobics classes should be avoided, but aqua-aerobics s/b OK (again advise the teacher).

Enjoy your pregnancy!

It all depends - do you exercise normally ? are there any problems with the pregnancy ? do you have high blood pressure or any other concerns ?

If you are fit and healthy and a regular exerciser and feeling okay then you can pretty much carry on with your normal roegime -  nothing wrong with jogging, or doing aerobics, or whatever. It's probably not a great time to start up a new sport or overdo it, but there is loads of evidence that regular exercise in pregnancy, even quite intense exercise, is good for you and for the baby as well. If you're not fit, or don't usually work out, then taking some exercise would still be beneficial but you might just want to ease into a bit more.

Just be aware of your body - if it feels good, then you can generally do it. If you start to feel tired, then stop. The main things to beware of in Singapore are the heat and humidity - if you exercise outdoors you'd probably more comfortable in the early morning or evening, and carry water with you.

Generally in the first trimester women find they don't feel much like vigorous exercise, what with tiredness and morning sickness, but if you feel like doing it then that's fine. In the second trimester some women get a burst of energy - the morning sickness phase is over and the pregnancy more "secure", that's often when women enjoy more vigorous exercise. Then again in the third trimester many women slow down again - just do what feels right.

I'm not a fitness freak by any means but I kept up my regular gym workouts, just went a bit slower, and was careful with weight lifting (your joints and ligaments soften in pregnancy so it's easy to strain yourself). I must say I got some funny looks when I was working out on the pec deck with my big belly in all its glory ! But by about 35 weeks I was pretty pooped and only really wanted to swim or stay indoors with the aircon on !

But I'm sure that being relatively healthy helped me cope with my long labour.

And yes, there are some yoga poses you should avoid when pregnant, worth reading up on and talking to your yoga teacher about or maybe do a specialist yoga programme for pregnant women.

Haven't been pregnant yet but my friend who was a regular runner continued running until the 8th month  .  She said it helped her feel good (better) during the pregnancy.

BTW, congratulations.
