I'm looking for a small table for my toddler.  I didn't think it would be so difficult to get something!

What I'm looking for (and I know you can get them in the UK) is a table with a kind of ridge round the outside edge so that pens, crayons, paintbrushes etc don't roll off onto the floor.  In a perfect world the table would have a removeable top so that I could store lego/crayons/whatever in the base.

Has anyone seen anything like this here?  Ikea only have wooden tables (which I'm not convinced would look great after scribbling) and some of the wipe-clean plastic ones I've seen elsewhere don't seem very sturdy.

I have a plastic one from Ikea...I think it is from the MUMUT?? range..but maybe they are discontinued now? I have a 3year old and ideally  the best table for her would be an old coffee table big  enough for  train set/lego/doll house...much easier for them when it's off the floor.A possibilty for you might be an old mahjong table with cut down legs...they usually have a little drawer on each side. A carpenter could add a wooden trim around the top for you (a bit of beading or picture frame trim)I wouldn't worry about scratches..give yourself a break and just worry about your grown up furniture!
just some thoughts...as no one else seems to have had any ideas

Your email address bounced my email!

I have a Step 2 convertible table set. It comes with 2 stools/seats that have lids so you can open up & store blocks in them. The table has a removable top to store stuff & the top is reversible where you can put alphabet pieces & numbers on the other side (comes with the set). It also has 2 "wings" to store more stuff under 2 corners of the table. The removable top also has a groove round it to prevent pencils from rolling off.  As it's Step 2, the construction is very solid/sturdy.

I bought it about 2 yrs ago but it's hardly been used by my kids. I also have the accessories (clipboard clip to convert to an easel, lego bases, etc) that come with it that are still in the plastic wrapper, unused. I think it's no longer in the market as I checked the Step 2 website today. I haven't seen it in the major children's suppliers here for some time either.
