Seems like he was just born but now the Skankster is getting old enough that he needs a desk in his roo, to do homework, draw etc.

He's got a computer & computer table already

Anybody know somewhere here that has a good selection of desks for young people, I need something w/some drawers, cubbyholes, writing/workspace but not 100% full size as he's still a kindergarten tyke (but growing fast) & I do want something that will last lets say through primary school

An active young boy will DESTROY Ikea's pressed wood crap in less than half a year. We need real furniture preferably something made out of real wood

Also he has a good bed so just need the desk

There's a shop in the Forum that has desks and work tables, etc. I've not been in to look at them as my kids are too young to need them yet, so I don't know for sure if it's what you need. I can't remember if it's on the 1st or 2nd floor.

I have literally just been through this ordeal -and it is an ordeal, as it is so hard to find anything that is not chipboard or pastel or with beds built in.My boy is 6 and did not need bed just somewhere to do craft/art/modeeling/homework.In the end we went to Scanteak in Park Mall, on the third floor, I think. it was quite exp. @5oo.It is not a typical kids desk, but it is strong, well made, practical, but does not really have lots of little cubbys -just a really smart desk.
There is the place in Forum -with the ergonomic chairs and tables. We got a chair to match the desk from Scan Teak -or rather it does not match, but boys don't really care about that !!!!

We also went thro' the same and also ended up with a proper teak desk with chair for my sons 4th birthday.  Our way of looking at it was it would be able to fit the PC and key board as well as still have space for arts and crafts, homework etc.  and it would last well into his teens!  It wasnt cheap but I thought it was well worth it in the long run.  We bought it from one of the two shops in Katong.  By the way he loves it and it is in constant use!

I saw kids's desk at cross.com in the Forum. The desks and chair can "grow"with your child into adult hood. The price seemed quite steep to me but I thought it is pretty cool concept and maybe worth it if your child has reached that age where they do need some place to "work"

Perhaps some with experience with those desk could say share their opinion?

I agree with the Ikea suggestion. We bought my son a loft bed with desk and wardrobe combo from Ikea when he was 5 yrs.  One international move and 5 yrs later it's still going strong.  What exactly does your kids do to the furniture?........
