Your doctor will be the best person to advise you on your capability and preference. I had a painless birth with the epidural done 3/4 way through my 22-hour labour. No side effects. I'll probably do it again for my no. 2.

Why on earth would your doctor be the best person to advise you either on what you're capable of or what your preference should be ? I would have thought only YOU would know the answer to that. Your doctor may well be able to advise you on the medical implications of having or not having an epidural (depending on their personal perspective and experience) but that's about it, after that it's your decision.

Excuse me. I said "ADVISE" not "DECIDE". Get it?
