Months of Trying...

I have been trying for 7 months now, and after waiting for about 4 months for my cycle to get to some sort of regular pattern, it all seems to have gone wrong. My ovulation kit shows that I didnt ovulate this month. I did change the stick things half way through, I was wondering if that may have caused incorrect readings? Now its day 32 and still no period. Without Ovulation when will I have a period it could be months and months.

What could have caused this sudden change to cycle I have done nothing different. More to the point will I ever get pregnant?? Feeling pretty depressed about he whole thing. I know it sounds crazy but its like my body is working against me.

Has anyone had these issues before?

Thanks

after using those ovulation kits myself - (without success) my advice is to ditch them and just have sex every other day. Don't worry about ovulation it must be happening, just be carefree and enjoy the sex!

I also tried the ovluation kits and they consistently showed that I was not ovulating which was incorrect. I know this because I then went to a gynae who did a scan on Day 2 of my cycle to monitor the eggs - you could actually see them on the screen which was pretty cool. I had spent 18 months thinking I was anovulatory (didn't ovulate) and it turns out I was ovulating all along (the problem was something else).

So go and see a gynae - they can usually spot the problem/solution.

My advice would be to see a gyny who specialises in fertility. My gyno does not specialise and i can see that this has hindered my progress. She wacked me on Clomid without doing a full battery of tests. I'm now on month 5 of clomid and it's not woking - i have to see out the full cyle before being able to move on and proactively find out what the prob is.
Chin up - i've been trying for 18 months.

I would recommend that you get a blood test done to see if you are ovulating.  It has to be carried out on a particular day of your cycle.  I had one done recently along with quite a few other tests and it did confirm that I had ovulated that particular month.

I have had numerous problems and recently lost my first baby midway through the second trimester.  I bought an ovulating kit (the one that you program your cycle into the monitor and use test sticks when requested) because I was told by my gynae here that I needed to take medication during ovulation (I since found out this was not the best practice when I consulted a doctor in the UK and didn't take the medication).

However, the fist time I used the machine, I doubted the reading, but we still went ahead and tried on the days which were considered my most fertile and I have just discovered that I am pregnant.

I also tried the stick method (without the machine) and had no success at all.  According to the results I wasn't ovulating either.

I agree with Pebbles. I too wasted time with a gynae who did not specialise in fertility but have moved now to someone who does and the difference is huge.

Also there are some cheper brands of ovulation kits out there - I used some which showed an LH surge had started but when I compared with a different brand, I got a different result. The fertility clinic I go to uses Clearplan and I've had no problems with those.

This is a clearplan, sort of mini computer. Which cost a fortune! I have seen a Gyn who said I was Ovulating and if nothing happened to come back in 6 months. I think maybe I used the test wrong or my cycles so long I missed it?

All those years I used to dread the Pregnancy test being positive! And now I can stand the negatives...

This month of clomid didn't work again - I'm ovulating, my husband is OK - I just don't see what the problem is?

Pebbles you sound lovley. You must feel so dishartened with all of this. From your posts I think you'll make a lovley mum when it happens. Keep the faith, I can understand how bad you must be feeling.

Pebbles - have you been to the fertility clinic? It might be worth going to see them as they will know the problems to look for.
I know how you feel as we have been trying for 18 months but at least we now know what the problem is which is half the battle.
Good luck!

You must be getting very frustrated.  It does sound like the machine I used.  It's a Clearplan Easy.  I found the instructions fairly complex and had to use nearly a whole box (20) of test sticks during my cycle (because you have to start testing on day 5 I think).

It's easy to put the sticks in the wrong way round.  If you check the screen it comes up with a warning signal if something hasn't been done properly.

Give it another go, you my find it works this time.

Good luck

Hi,

I am also trying for a baby and being over 35 etc was woried whether I was ovulating etc etc.  I have a little girl 3 and it took me 6 months to get pregnant with her after a miscarriage (it also took me 6 months to get pregnant then I lost it)

I am being scientific this time and am using  a book called Taking Charge of Your Fertility and have also bought their software.  You monitor temperature, cervical fluid and also use an ovulation kit if you want.  I have aonly been using it for 2 months (husband away last month so didn't help) but I do feel like I have an idea what's going on and if it takes a while I can go to the doctor armed with loads of info which should make any diagnosis much quicker.

Hope this helps - good luck
