I am having my second child and have heard lots of good things about him. I went to see him last week and he said that he was very hands off, which worried me a little. I don't want him to be completely detached because I may need guidance! What are people's experiences with him? Thanks.

I have no knowledge about him.  But, it seems not so good (for various reasons) to ask for such comments about a specific person on a web board.  Perhaps people could just personally email you.  Although you are registered, your email does not appear.

He delivered my son last year. can highly recommend him. was patient and spent enough time answering my detailed questions and addressing my imagined fears as a first time mom. called him a couple of times past 10 at night and he was gracious and considerate even then. if you have any specific qns, will be glad to address them.

about him not being involved, depends on what u want. since i trusted him, i left him to make the decision on whether and when i should use epidural etc.

Congratulations! What I am worried about is that if I struggle (which is very likely to happen!) I don't want him to just stand at a distance and "let everything go with the flow" which is the impression I got.

Can also highly recommend him.  He delivered my son by C-section 3 months ago.

He was always very charming, didn't rush me though appointments, and at the end when I needed a C-section, he didn't force the decision and talked through the alternatives, which may have still ended the same way.

Not sure how many Dr's here would be completely 'hands on', but would suggest you put in another posting headed ' is your obstretican 'hands on' and you may find someone that would suit you better.

I suspect by  "Hands off"  he means he is not going to push you in any particular direction as some Drs would.

We found him to be a very good listener and to be very intuitive about our worries and concerns.  He is excellent at providing information about different options and their risks, and different courses of action that you can take, to allow you to find the solutions you want.  His technical expertise is unmatched in Singapore.

He delivered my baby (we think he's fantastic)  and I simply cannot imagine him standing back and letting anyone "struggle".   As an earlier poster also commented, we trusted him completely and would have taken his guidance on anything.  I don't think you have to worry about him not offering advice or support.

Why don't you call the Mother and Child Centre at Tanglin Mall and talk to one of the midwives about the various OBGYN's in Singapore - they know most of them and could answer a lot of your questions.

Good luck

Thanks everyone. I've only been to see him once but I will stick with him because I've heard lots of good things about him. Just wasn't sure what his style was like but I guess there is no harm asking him for details.
