I am planning a long-haul trip with my 4 month old and am trying to down-scale the carry-on bag we will be bringing for him.  I would rather not carry 8+ bottles with pre-boiled water for formula and I want to avoid the hassle of utilizing water boiled by the cabin crew.

I have been thinking of using the Avent Disposable Bottle System (1 "holder" which takes pre-sterilized disposable plastic bags) with bottled water which is readily available on the plane...

Is it generally safe to use bottled water (ie. Evian) to make formula?  It seems reasonable but I just thought I'd check on other experiences out there...

Oh how I 'love' long-haul flights! Your post brings back memories of the first time we flew long haul with my daughter. My darling husband was appalled at the amount and weight of carry-on stuff (8 bottles with water, formula box, car-seat, diapers, pram, spare clothes etc). Since then, we have travelled to and from UK with our now 2 kids ( 2 and 5) several times and I've always used the Avent disposable bottle system with bottled water with no adverse effects. Believe mt, it really cuts down on all the bottles you have to carry.
