My thoughts:
I believe a lot of people get hanged every year for drug smuggling. Doesn't Singapore have one of the highest per-capita death executions in the world?
In spite of this, there are still quite a lot of drug addicts. I wonder where they get the drug from?
Van Nguyen apparently was carrying drugs through Singapore (maybe from Vietnam to Australia?). Isn't an airport considered international territory? So they shouldn't arrest one in an airport. Besides, what do they care, since the drugs are destined for Australia?
In any case, one must be a bit (very!) stupid if he is travelling from Vietnam (or whatever) to Australia THROUGH Singapore with a lot of drugs. Take a direct flight, or fly through a country without mandatory death sentence, goddammit.
What is the maximum amount one can take in before the mandatory death sentence becomes... mandatory?
Poor chap.
