S'poreans used to (and still do to some extent) get over-looked for top jobs. This has (partially) but still needs to be put right. If they're the best candidate, they're the best candidate.
You shouldn't distinguish race when hiring. Should be the most suitable candidate based on skills. So an agency that excludes caucasians is blatantly racist. Making up for past mistakes in this way is unjustifiable. You have improve and not play tit for tat.
If this guy's only criteria for being a Singaporean success story is that he only employs locals, then in this day and age, he's mis-guided.
It is fantastic news that this local agency has achieved the accolades it has been so fiercely chasing. Singaporean advertising agencies have been under-recognised for too long.
The next question is:
Should national identity be associated with business any more as companies are increasingly multi-national?
