immigration of young people wont work as far as the world is concerned.  it's like taking money from your left hand and putting it in your right hand and say, wow - i am better off.  extending pension age may help but it will drive the cost of employer's sky high unless older people are prepared to earn much less for shorter hours.  medical and living costs will continue to climb faster than income, esp for older people as long as corporations are expected to continue to be more profitable in the future.  one good thing is that the sg cpf/retirement fund is based on individual savings based on employment - not a pooled savings fund of most western countries.   no work, no savings system.   the govt's initiative to build more low cost housing for older citizens deserves merit.   not an easy thing to go a few notch down the previous standard of living.  people just have to plan to be able to afford living without being a burden to others.
