Pretty boring around here these days. Let's start it up a bit. What would you bring to the Expat Singapore Christmas Party, and who would it be for.
I would bring a hammer and sickle for the dear departed Antoine.

Dolemite - I would bring you a wee Bush Doll and a DVD of "Harold and Maude", all packed into a soapbox and wrapped in chintzy Stars and Stripes Christmas paper.

For PhilM - I would bring a halo, bound with all varieties of natural flora and lit with sparklers.

For antoine - I would give him Ariadne's thread so he could find his way to farther shores like a contemporary Ulysses.

For Joseph27 - I would bring him an Atlas of the Underworld and make an appointment to meet up with him in the Upperworld in 5 Underworld years time. I would remind him to not look back when he meets up with Inanna.

For cactus - I would bring a big big smile and never let it go.

Bluetiger - could you up your spending a little and throw in a pair of golden wings?

With your chosen name it would have to be Winnie the Pooh for you.

Pacifist would be given his first pair of long trousers.

Dr Opinion would get a master key to the nurses accomodation

The Board Manager would get viagra to help on the odd nights he is not monitoring the board.

Easy for you Dolemite.  A "Dolemite T-shirt just in time for Christmas!"  I took that off a Dolemite website; it is "officially disapproved by THE MAN."

Great handle - Dolemite.  Is it intentional irony that someone who voices right-wing and Republican opinions has a reference to a key Blaxploitation icon as a handle?

I'm flattered (i think)

Where did Antoine go - this part of the board can become a bit boring sometimes without provocative and controversial postings.

Actually the other night my wife told me that my post change dramatically one day to the next.  Sometimes I can write things consistant with Wall St Journal thinking and then the next espouse some very far out views. One post I can be totally dismissive of a cause that i later write so passionately about.  What do I really believe?

I really believe that this is a great board - it is well run by the board manager and I enjoy reading everyones posts.  I like stirring it up sometimes as well but i especially like the dialogue and opinions posted by many of you - from the obvious, the semi intellectual   , the predictable and the out right snoopy

So Happy Christmas Everyone - you to BM - Keep up the great work in 2003

OK, OK, since you all miss Antoine I'll do my best to give you something to hold you over.

------

Ahh, presents presents From those who own nothing yet have, many Gifts...to give.  I thank you for your gift... which is a light in Troubled times -  Though I see, the ways of the pharaohs who, cause the trouble without end that will end sooner than any of you know.  Believe nothing that I've ever said or telegraphed

I shall return soon, or Not, as the paths we walk are not...in our Hands but hands whose fingers Wear rings Put there for, deadly reasons.

I would offer the above, together with their families, a free 1 month "holiday" in Baghdad to stay with an Iraq family. Of course with the full UN rations but they will have to fend for themselves for the remaining 25 days.
Or they can take this holday in the West Bank to live a Palestinian family.
In both cases they will have to give up their passports and "be" like the locals.

Mmmm.  Yes, for Cactus, some weedkiller and a hoe.  For Professor Chaos, a new brain.  For HoD, Japanese twins.  For PhilM, a nice cruise with terrific food/drink.  For the Bored Manager, a decent clock.  Merry Christmas all!

PhilM - would get a couple of bottles of fine Oz wine & a prk pie/Hokkien inventive dish

Dr Opinion - would get some fresh "best-known-to-mankind" roti prata..

Joseph27 - you'd get to have a never-ending jug of Carlsberg at your disposal

Badgurl - would (finally) get a "decent" munchkin..
