I recently downloaded the software on the advice of a friend. He raved about its clarity and the fact that he could zoom in on his backyard at home in the States and clearly see the pool or the car in the driveway.

Am I missing something, because I find it very hazy, and was wondering what other people thought. Do you get greater clarity if you sign up to one of the others like Earth Plus etc?

I've found that it is slow to focus particularly when you are zooming in. If you wait for it, it generally gets pretty clear. However, I think it also depends on the location you are looking at - I suspect some of the satellite images are better and/or clearer than others.

Takes some time to focus - look at the percentage on the bottom bar.  Those places in the US have higher resolution.  Certain places could be due to security concern, which is why better resolutions are not provided.  Singapore's resolution is too coarse and it is covered with clouds.  Also, from the reclamation, you can tell that it is an old satellite photo.

I downloaded GE last week and it's been great to show my daughter. I agree the clarity of images does seem to vary quite a bit. I could see the windows of my old apartment in Tokyo but when trying to show my daughter the Sydney Opera House at her request the image was awful... The pyrammids at Giza were impossible to find... I can only hope they slowly expand & improve the images they have. Otherwise I think it's a great idea...
