Thanks BM for the great idea, and thanks BBC for showing, for the first time in its history, more than 15 seconds of Real Madrid. That was a match in Beijing, and they would have completely ignored it if Beckham hadn't been there.

Anyway the bloke didn't score, another 2 (or 3) folks did.

So, will Beckham make it now that he is playing with world class players? Or will he end up in oblivion and will people say that he is a crap player, only good in an English team where all the others are even worse?

It's wonderful to see that your ignorance is not limited to just politics, culture, history, human nature, women, semantics and civility.

It also encompasses the world of sport.

You are truly a  ignoramus for all seasons..

bravo

Good topic.  But, being American, I have no interest in soccer since we have heretofore been unable to dominate, or actually even effectively and consistently compete, in international competition.

We are, however, working on various means of using our military and inustrial powerbase to eliminate our soccer competition, fix soccer competitions that are allowed to occur, and have the world community decry as unfair those competitions which do occur but which we are unable to fix in advance.

I'm sure this is no surprise to you.  You and Antione certainly saw it coming long before the ignorant masses.

I think you'll find that Becks will be exposed as one of the most overrated players in the world now that he has joined a proper team.

The only reason he gets so much press is cos he married a Spice Girl who likes it in the backdoor, and apparently he has nice legs (not my personal opinion)

He has the ability to become invisible in matches as he minces about the wing - unless its a dead ball, he doesn't show any of the talent of say Gazza.

I am not a great soccer fan myself, but I will try to watch some Madrid matches in the near future, just to see Beckham embarrassing himself.

Not that I dislike Beckham for any particular reason, apart from the fact that he is more successful and looks better than me and is married to a girl who can't sing, but whom I wouldn't mind bouncing the backdoor (BM, if this is too much, please censure the sentence).

Anyway, what's the big deal with that guy? It's true that he is the best English player, but English football sucks. Go to Brasil if you want to see people play REAL soccer!
