quote:
The attack on Bush comes after a similar broadside against Blair
Around 50 retired US diplomats have written to US President George Bush to complain about America's policy towards the Middle East.

The letter is similar to one written by 52 former British diplomats to UK Prime Minister Tony Blair last week.

The former US diplomats complained that President Bush's approach is losing the US "credibility, prestige and friends".

All vile, corrupt things must come to an end. Goodbye, Mr. Bush. It's been real.

Will the Bush administration give these Diplomats the same treatment as countries such as France and Germany who refused to sign up for Bush’s Iraq invasion? Whichever side of the argument you are on regarding Bush’s Middle East policy it is hard to dismiss the views of over fifty seasoned Diplomats.

When the UK Diplomats sent a similar letter to Blair the US spokesman on BBC World that same day called them a “Bunch of ignored Arabists who had been left out of the loop”. I wonder if he will make the same comment about US Diplomats.

Given the present fiasco and imminent US withdrawl I'd respectfully suggest Bush might have benefitted from the council of some of these experts? Nah. Silly idea. Bush knows best.

Note that none of these 50 diplomats is complaining about Bush's Iraq policy.

The complaint is against Bush's Israel policy.

Anyhow, who cares what France's and Germany's diplomats think about anything (Phil's point). Villipen will likely be behind bars by the end of the year.

> "...Note that none of these 50 diplomats is complaining about Bush's Iraq policy..."

From the article:

quote:
The organiser of the American missive, Andrew Killgore, who served as US ambassador to Qatar from 1977 to 1980, told the BBC: "We thought American diplomats were as unhappy as British diplomats were over what the president did."  [...] Mr Killgore said the letter was mainly about policy towards Israel and the Palestinians, but it touched on Iraq too.

"If anything Iraq is worse," he said.

Pub, you need to read. Otherwise you will remain ignorant. Perhaps you pefer it that way?

> "...Anyhow, who cares what France's and Germany's diplomats think..."

From the article:

quote:
About 50 retired US diplomats have written to President George W Bush to criticise current American policy towards the Middle East.

Pub - - seriously -- did you read an article about 50 former US Embassadors and US Envoys criticising Bush, men with immense experience serving America in the ME, and come away with the notion the article was about European diplomats? Are you taking the piss?

Doc, the reference to France and Germany was in response to Phil's post.

Blair has more to worry about than just 52 Diplomats, now British troops are being accused of unlawful killing.
