Serious topic here.  Remember those days when you used to rush home to find out who killed JR, or who Joan Collins was bitching about this week, or whether Blake Carrington's hair had moved?

Or even (gawd bless 'em) Coronation Street, Brookside et al?

Where are all the decent soaps?  Korean ones just don't quite cut it for me.

Dont you get your Sat morning fix. My wife makes herself scarce on Saturday Mornings when there is nothing else happening to watch something she calls "bold". I'm sure its one of those shows where being able to act is not a neccessary attribute to land a role. As someone once said" soap actors couldnt act dead if you shot them"

No, never liked "Bald and Beautiful".  Or "Young and Bedless".  I want real drama!  With class!

I quite liked 'The Colbys' (Dynasty spinoff).

You must have been disappointed with Blake's hair - that NEVER moved! And the shoulder pads, Crystal's hair and lip gloss....those were excellent shows
The one thing I missed on leaving the UK was The Bill. I'd watched it from the start! Sad I know. So my MiL tapes it for me and posts it, bless her.
I'm going off it now as a new producer has come in and seems hell bent on killing of most of the cast.. nothing stays the same!

I miss truely good drama - not alot of the stuff from America but some of those truly gripping tv shows.  Tell the truth i havent seen any in a long time

But all in all I must say that the thing i miss most is the BILL -  that show rocked.  The Australian show Pheonix and Janus were better and about the best I have ever seen but unfortunately limited to short seasons.

Oh well - I go back to Aus in a few weeks and my Mom taped some of the crucial episodes when things fall apart for Rod and the boys at the Bill

There was an Australian soapie in the 80s that I loved, it was called "Return to Eden", did anybody watch that?

Absolutely!  Didn't it have Rebecca Gibson (?) in it - her face was horribly scarred and as luck would have it, after plastic surgery she became absolutely beautiful and wreaked terrible revenge on her former enemies?  Or something like that.

There's something about Australian soaps - anyone remember Sons & Daughters!  Great stuff.  And Young Doctors will always have a special place in my heart (mainly because it was soooo awful)!

It was actually Rebecca Gilling. The show has been re-released on DVD recently (yes, I'm kind of stuck in the 80's  )

The croc in the pool scene still gives me the heebie jeebies when I swim in dark-bottomed pools
