You're assuming that the US economy is going to surge this year Bruno. Personally, I would like to have a lower value of Canadian Dollar. That way I can buy more of them...

One case that I read last year on FTA going bad at the other end of the deal with the US was with either Thailand or Vietnam.
one of those countries exported Codfish  to US and there was a surge of Codfish in the US that it threatened the local industry, so US (don't know which part of the govt) passed some regulation that only certain species (excluding the one imported) can be considered Codfish.

Overall the Australian economy will benefit from the free trade agreement - whats more Australia is currently excluded from most regional economic forums and so need this type of agreement.  Overall I am in favor of some broad free trade agreement but it just pisses me off that special interest can easily and transparantly bribe the government into giving all sorts of incentives and then having them ratified despite being contrary to the very nature of the agreement.

Watch out, some of the Democratic candidates are saying that they will review all the Free Trade agreements.

The question is, would you prefer to lose the FTA for your respective countries or have George Bush stay as president?
