So, tsunami the day after his son's birthday and another deadly earthquake on the anniversary of his resurection.

Why be a Christian?

They'll tell you it's to test your faith, and that the lord works in mysterious ways and we can't possibly know his plan - stuff like that.  People are capable of rationalizing literally anything if they want to.

Certainly these are tragic circumstances, and we all hurt with those who have lost loved ones, homes, livelihood, etc. But the question is not really, "Why would God do something like this" (earthquake, tsunami). Christians understand that all humanity is fallen and God could have written all of us off long ago.  So the question is really, "Why doesn't this sort of thing happen more often?"

In Luke 13, Jesus was asked about tragic circumstances, and His reply was, "Unless you repent, you will all likewise perish."

Well, choosing Christianity or any other religion, for that matter,  is just that, a choice.

What makes natural disasters any different or worse when they happen the day after Christmas or Easter than if they were to happen any other day of the year? Is an earthquake or tsunami not so bad if it happens on January 12 or May 7? I mean, at least on those dates we're not talking about major Christian holidays, so it can't be so bad, right? Kind of a juvenile attitude you've got going there Mr Fish, don't you think?

Juvenile?

Yes, I believe in Santa Clause and the tooth fairy -- despite there being no proof they exist.

As an adult you believe in God.

So, Mr Fish, you latch on to the fact that I called your attitude 'juvenile' but you completely ignore the real question:

"What makes natural disasters any different or worse when they happen the day after Christmas or Easter than if they were to happen any other day of the year?"

Just out of curiousity, what conclusion am I to draw about you and your attitude now?

Actually, apologies Tweek.

You can easily be forgiven for missing my intended point and I am sure you will understand if I do not try to defend my emasculated first post.

Nobody knows when Jesus was born, but it certainly was NOT December 25.
Easter moves around tha calander, so we are not sure of the actual date of the Crucifiction either.
If you are a good Christian, you go to a better place when the earthquake gets you.
Repent. You never know when the next one will hit!

Old Mike, we all know you're definitely going to hell if you spell 'cruxifixion' that way....either that or the 'spelling Gods' will need to pray for you...good luck old boy...

Spanner, you're going to be right there with Old Mike with your version as well.  It's crucifixion.  Talk about being hoist by ones own petard.

From a theological point of view, the Christ came to die for Sinners not dead people, let the dead bury the dead, life goes on, besides; everyone has to die one day, so why not earlier. NOst.
