My neighbours are moving and I have offered to employ their maid (part time).  What is involved in transferring a maid? She will be coming to my house 3-4 afternoons a week to do the normal cleaning, cooking, laundry, shopping and possibly fix dinner. She is planning to work for another family as well.
Also does someone have the actual website for Minister of Manpower to look at their suggestions?  Thanks!

Hey AnnaBanana,
You can approach any maid agency and let them know your intention of transferring this particular maid under your name. You pay a one time fee of $350-$400 and your maid does the same. However I don't think you can employ a maid part time.

Sorry, just reread your post and unfortunately, you can't "share" a maid with another family. You can do it, illegally of course. She has to be with you full time.

Thanks Grub.  I do believe you are correct.  But I have been told that if said maid starts her own business  she can clean as many or little houses as her little heart desires.  I'm hoping she will do this and then she would be legal to work with me and another family part time.  I understand that to do this she would be to required to fill out some paper work and a fee of about $100.  Does anyone know about this?

never heard of $100 fee to share a maid with other families... What is her nationality? If she is a local, she doesn't have to set up a businees so to speak. If she is a foreign domestic worker, then she needs a work permit provided by her employer and she can't work for other families part time. It's illegal to moonlighting. If the maid in question is a local part-timer, then you can hire her direct. HTH.
