I would like to make a dairy free sauce for steak using wholegrain mustard - any suggestions would be welcome. Whilst I can't use any creme fraiche I do have a dairy free butter already if that is one of the required ingredients.

Try deglazing the pan with some wine ( whatever is to hand) not too much, mind. Reduce down and stir in maybe a teaspoon of tomato puree and dollop of mustard. Season.

You could do a bernaise sauce with egg yolks etc- google for a recipe. Rich and creamy- it normally contains butter but if you have the substitute it might work.
