Does anybody have a good tested recipe for green mango salad? Have to entertain husband's business visitors and they specifically asked for this. Help!

Just do a take-away from Thai Express.
It's tough as it is picking the perfect mango for the salad.

my ignorance, but where can you get green mangoes? I thought they are different from unripen mangoes that you can get in the shops here.

there is an excellent recipe book "green mangoes and lemon grass". We got it in Kinokuniya. It has a great green mango recipe in there. We normally just buy hard green mangoes from the market, I'm not sure if they are a special type but they have to be really unripe if they are a bit ripe they start to taste floury.

But what sort of dinner guests (especially business ones!) request a specific dish - I have never heard anything so odd!!!

Is it some sort of intiative test of you as a wife?

Green mangos are very acidic. Most Thai salads that people think have green mangos in them in fact have green papayas. But you can use mangos instead of papayas if you insist. You can get green papayas and green mangos at both Golden Mile Complex and Tekka market. For recipes try Googling for "som tam thai".

yum yum, my favourite Green Mango Salad. There are 2 versions. The northern Thai and the Southern Thai.

Green mangoes - you can find in a local supermarket call Sheng Shiong, or local wet market. Of course one trip to Golden Miles and you'll get everything authentic.

Ingredients must have:
Mangoes of course
dried shrimps
garlic
lime juice
fish sauce
sugar

Other Ingredients good to include:
pound peanuts
fried mince meat (pork or beef or chicken, some will put the raw crab)

More additional things if you want:
capsicum
lettuce

ENJOY!!!

Sorry, forgot to add something....

If your guest can take chilli, you may want to add some chilli. The southern will add a chilli paste (can be found at Golden Mile, you can ask the people there), otherwise, you can just put sound dry chilli powder
