I'm looking for a good recipe for home-made burgers that won't fall apart on the bbq.  I've got minced beef but not sure what else to add to stop them breaking up in the cooking process.  Thanks in advance!

also add some finely diced cooked onion & some 'all spice' mix.

or garlic, chopped parley, parmasen cheese, breadcrumbs & a beaten egg to bind it all together.

I'd agree with the egg and breadcrumbs to bind them , and I also add grated carrot, celery, onion, ketchup and worcestershire sauce and sometimes bacon.(Put in processer with carrot, celery and onion). Yummo.
Once you have mixed all your ingredients then shaped them into burgers put them into the fridge for a while before cooking them and this is supposed to help them stay together.

Egg and a packet of Lipton's Onion Soup mix.  Yummy!

Thanks for the replies!  Sounds like egg and breadcrumbs are the go, so will definitely add those, with perhaps some onion and garlic.  Not sure about the vegies ~ it's for a kids' bbq so they may become inedible if anything too healthy is added! Thanks again for the helpful speedy responses!

I had a friend who made good burgers.  She said the secret to them not falling apart was that she'd squeeze the mix to get as much liquid out as possible.  I was watching a chef prog the other night and he put his into a clean tea towel and squeezed it that way.........I guess (hope!) he just boil washes his tea towels.......but it seemed to do the job!

bbq was today... most of the burgers stayed together thanks to the egg and breadcrumbs, I guess!  I like the idea of squeezing them as a couple did fall apart.  I'll try that next time!  Thanks again for your helpful posts!

I will share with you a secret!
use only eggwhite. Your burgers will be soft and juicy and guaranteed not to break! plus they look good. Cheers!

I know this is too late for your BBQ, but maybe for next time.

Add: egg, slice of bread (torn into pieces) + soak it in a bit of milk, onion, a bit of worcestershire sauce.

while grilling you can add cheese, bacon, egg or pineapple on top!

Good luck!

Carl's Burger has opened another branch at Plaza Singapura.  It's always crowded.  Are they really good, over-rated or just a place to be seen?

I reallly like Carls Jnr - much nicer than burglar king or the other one.  A bit more expensive, but you can refill your drink and also help yourself to pickles etc.  Plus, the burgers are much bigger.

I like the guacamole one and the chili one (chili could be nicer, tastes a bit like tinned chili, but not too bad at all) - very messy though!
