Found a tasty recipe for Bombay recipes ... what could I serve with it? I have salmon in the fridge - but am guessing that wouldn't go together too well?!

Hi Karen E
Thanks for your suggestion yesterday - I tried the turmeric and although the salmon looked nice and colourful - it didn't taste of anything !!!!!    How much turmeric do you use?  Do you use butter/oil?  Any other spices?  Thanks !

No wonder it didnt taste of anything, turmeric alone is pretty tasteless.

Marinate in other things like yoghurt, garlic and ginger(a must!), chopped coriander leaves, chopped chillies, a bit of tamarind if you have it - gives it a real kick.

Fresh white fish seems to go rather well in a turmeric and coconut milk base...it's a cooking style from the South of India.

Other things you add to bring out the flavour are ingredients like onion, ginger and red chillies. Don't forget a little salt for flavor.

If you still find you could strengthen the flavour a little -- add some saffron (you can get some for about $5 at mustafa)

If not saffron, then some coriander powder and a pinch of cumin powder and finally garnish with fresh coriander leaves.

If you want the sweet and sour element, add some sugar and a little tamarind too.

If you like local prawn paste flavour.....

Salmon seems to go well using a Chilli Crab recipe....and we eat it with pasta!

Find a chilli crab recipe or use sambal olek which is available in a jar.
