Those of you who eat sashimi will be familiar with the bundle of long strands of japanese radish the sashimi is placed on. Where can I get the whachamacallit that makes those long strands?

Oh, do you mean the utensil for shredding the daikon? I'm not sure, but I would probably try a food processor with the grating attachment..

Exactly, the thing that shreds the daikon. Except I don't want it shredded or grated, I want to do those very long spaghetti-like daikon strips they serve sashimi on, in restaurants..

Think you find these in Taka or Tangs basement - they're those rectangular boxes with a slicing blade on the lid. The ones from Japan also has a shredding blade which should do the long strands if you run the whole radish lengthwise ( rather than shopping into segments ) against the blade.

Mine is like a potato peeler but the blade is shaped for strands. I just run it down the radish, cucumber etc. Got it in Taki (or just possibly Isetan).
