My partner and I have been to both. We actually preferred the resort at Desaru.  Stayed in a beach hut at Turi which was okay, but lots of mosquitos and bugs, etc at night.  But then you also get a fair amount of privacy etc. The pool is okay, food is okay. We arrived on a Friday nite and it was VERY quiet, almost deserted. Saturday it picked up a lot.  Perdana at Desaru is really great, we enjoyed it more.  Rooms are quite spacious (but if you're going with a partner, make sure you specify that you want a queen size bed, we got stuck with 2 singles put together after we found there were no more queens available).  Food is fantastic, big buffets, etc and a huge choice at breakfast. The whole of the resort is really quite nice, good bar area for drinks at night, etc. Really nice swimming pool which is quite good for the kids too and beautiful beach there also.  Would definetly go back there again.

We've been to Turi Beach for our first getaway from Singapore ... Compared to the luxurious housing complex we live in ... we felt that it was very run down. The beach is almost non-existent and do not try to bathe in those waters as you will end up with fuel on your feet! The site would in itself be very nice if someone picked up the trash (...) especially on the beach and if the garden was better maintained ... It was almost empty when we went there for the week-end and we really had the feeling of a place that will close some day and no one feels the need to maintain it properly ... I wouldn't recommend it!

We rather like Batam View, which is in the same area as Turi. Staff are friendlier and the place looks like the owner (or someone) CARES. about it.

Turi staff treat the guests like they a nuisance.
