Hello,

I am planning a 3-day trip to Bangkok and was wondering if anyone can recommend some nice hotels to stay at that are conveniently located to all the attractions.  I am looking for something that doesn’t require a lot of travel by taxi or bus to and from.  I am willing to pay more for a place that is clean, safe and convenient.

Also, I know that there are a lot of travel agents in People’s Park.  Does anyone know of a reputable one?

Just got back and stayed at the Pathumwan Princess Hotel, it has a great mall attached to it! I am not sure of it's location, but we did take taxi's everywhere.(very Cheap-the taxi's).It also comes with a huge buffet breakfast!

The Sukothai Hotel is a very nice oriental-designed hotel with very good restaurants and ambience. Corporate Rates start at about USD 109 and the hotel is located at Sathorn Road (near the Westin).

Location is critical in BKK as travelling around in the congested city is a hassle.  There is no real CBD so to speak of and the city is huge 10MM pax so it depends upon where you want to go in terms of attractions.  It is probably best to be on a main arterial road (or river) to be most accessible to attractions.  Oriental is top class and highly recommended.  Others quite central are Dusit Thani which is on a major intersection and close to major shopping areas like PatPong (5 min walk) on Silom Rd.
Dusit is on major routes and also the new Rail system.  You can also ask for a "corporate rate" which will give you a discount.
