Keep cool evehow,
I came to Singapore in September and it was my first time in Asia. I survived so far and I'm still alive, although I was pretty clueless about a lot of things. German is a normal country and I'm sure that you will solve all the problems once you are there 9for example the railway stations at Frankfurt airport). And there are always people who can be asked....
The most important things are your passport and your credit card, that's all you need.....

Have lot's of fun and enjoy your journey...

hey - don't worry...still got one more option.

1. if DM's cannot be found at changi airport, go change into USD, then change into DM later in germany.

2. go look up PIN for credit card.

enjoy your trip! at least you're going on a holiday while we slave here.

I don't really think that it makes a big  difference to bring USD or SD in cash. The fees will be the same for changing at a bank.
But USD is more the type of a 'known and familiar 'curency in Germany.

If you want to change SGD in to DM in Germany, you should do this at the big airports like FFM....it is not so easy in smaller towns like Bonn. Fees for cash with credit card can be very high ..5 to 10%. To bad , i also have some hundert german mark in my pocket..but i will go home to singapore on sunday and have no idea what to do with this..worth thing, i'm in Brussels at the moment and have some Francs as well ..anyone need some stuff from germany Huh?. What ever... have a nice tripp   and dont forget to bring some Koelsch back to sing

Update!

Managed to change to DM in Changi Airport.  Rate is $100 to DM84, not the best rate I got so far (one shop in AMK selling DM86!)  Also got some Euro travellers cheques.

Changing to USD is a final (and very expensive) option for me.  Fortunately it's not necessary!

Now I only got to figure out how to get my way from Frankfurt to Bonn in one piece!  All those German words are AARGHHHH!!!  Sprechen sie Englisch?!??

Yes I will be drinking lots of Koelsch in Germany (and eating giant pretzels)!!!  Looking forward to that!!!

Am waiting to board the plane at Changi...... Danke danke for all your help!
