We were wondering if anyone has stayed at Laguna Beach Resort in Phuket? Is there an alternative to eating in the hotel resturants ie cheaper meals available locally?? Any info appreciated. Thanks

yes we stayed there last year and had a great time, lots to do - book a trip to james bond island, we did a private tour which was better than hanging around with loads of tourists, also try the elephant treking. You can eat at all the restaurants that are part of the laguna complex - I think there are about 5 hotels included in this, also for good cheap food - try the beach restaurants they were half the price of the hotels and great food, also the drink was half the price and a great atmosphere as well.  We plan to go back sometime.

just outside the entrance to the laguna phuket complex - there are a bunch of restaurants that will send a car to fetch you from within the resort. great food, cheaper than the laguna hotels.

there's one place which is a fusion cuisine place (can't remember the name) with food that is worth killing for!

enjoy!

Laguna Beach Club is not next to Phuket town or Patong.  It is located in a resort area, grouping of about 5 hotels.  Taxi to either Phuket town or Patong is about 20 mins.  I havent been around Thailand, but I did not get the feeling that Phuket was a place for anykind of shopping except for tourist trinkets.  If buying such, dont pay any more than 40% of the asking price, and perhaps even less.

james bond island is where they filled that famous scene in the man with the golden gun -it is tiny and can only visit on a guided tour.

Is there anywhere on Phuket where I can have clothes made cheaply like in Bangkok?  Can anyone recommend a place?  Thanks.

The shopping at Patong Beach offers the same touristy stuff you'd find in Singapore and not necessarily cheaper either.Phuket City , about 20 minutes from Patong Beach was marginally better but overall I'd say enjoy the beach but forget the shopping.
