Start thanking him now. It's not a hotel it's a romantic couples experience. You are a lucky lass.

I and my wife stayed there for a week in Feb this year. Its the best place. YOu are also connected via ferry to all the laguna resorts like Dusit. Banyan tree is an experience in itself. The Thai restuarant in the hotel is very good. Do use the spa if you can. Again i have to say its the best I know. Also banywan tree has many kinds of rooms. The best are the pool villas. Hopefully you got that if not upgrade to it. You will ove it and its well worth the additional prie. Its a very decent size pool in prvacy. They aslo offer spa facilities in your private garden etc. I MUST SAY BANYAN TREE PHUKET IS THE BEST. STAY AT THE POOL VILLA OR LANGUN VIEW POOL VILLA. THE Jacuzzi and garden villas are ok.

Thanks for your responses.  We returned at midnight Sunday and it was the most magical, romantic 3 days of our lives.  The fact that children are discouraged was an advantage as we don't have any and wanted to enjoy a relaxing few days.  We have been fortunate to stay in many luxurious places around the world but this one really takes some beating.

BTW BM, when completing the comments form - in response to the question "how did you hear about the Banyan Tree," I gave them your them your website details.

I do not think children are discouraged from there.  We went with ours to a villa with a pool with a group of friends who also have children.  The children really enjoyed it and we did not feel looked down upon because we had children.

I would recommend the Banyan Tree in Phuket to families.
