Has anyone been to Sichuan in October? Thinking of a few days in Chengdu, see some pandas and then head into the mountains. Is it a stupid idea? Does anyone have a favourite part of China other than Sichuan that would be good to visit for about ten days in October?

Thanks a lot.

this is a great place. use chengdu as your base. yep you can see the pandas. i did a two day trip west of chengdu and climbed up this mountain with a buddhist temple on top. we also saw the largest buddha in the world. this was in jan (few years ago) so was v cold and snowy but beautiful. have fun. i think the hotel organised the trip (traffic hotel in chengdu).
