Hmm...lots to do in such a short time, but don't miss dim sum in city hall (or is it town hall?) nights out in Lan Kwai Fong (the Jazz Club), perhaps a visit to the night market on Jordan street (Kowloon side), there's a beautiful Buddhist temple on Repulse Bay Beach (HK side), and a really amazing Thai restaurant on Shek-O (the headland)right by the bus station.

Enjoy!

Make sure you catch the Peak Tram up to Victoria Peak, magical views of Hong Kong at night. All taxi drivers will know how to get to the Peak Tram.  Restaurants and bars up on top of the mountain. If you want to, also catch the bus down the mountain instead of taking the tram back down. I guarantee you will have many grey hairs afterwards ! :-)

Try Lantau Island...world's largest outdoor bronze Buddha and a great vegetarian lunch served by the monks at the monastery!  Great experience.  Take a ferry to Lantau then hop on a bus to the monastery.  Also, if you want to make a day of it...take another bus to the other side of the island to Tai-O village.  You will feel like you've gone back in time! (check out the HK Tourist Association - I'm sure there is info at the airport or your hotel)  Another interesting thing to do for an afternoon is take a tram ride from one side of HK Island to the other.  You can go from Happy Valley where the racecourse is to Western District which is relatively undeveloped compared to Central.  Definitely head up to the Peak at night on the Peak Tram...and ride the Star Ferry from Kowloon to HK Island.  You'll understand then why Hong Kong means "Fragrant Harbour"
As far as shopping goes, head to Stanley Market.  Or if you are a high end shopper just walk through Central!!!!
Another good tourist spot is Aberdeen - you may have heard of the famous floating restaurants.  Give it a try!
Hong Kong is truly an experience for all of your senses.  Enjoy!
Let us know how your trip was when you return...

Many thanks all for the advice

I'll try an see how much I can fit in
will definately try the tram up the peak, the bus down sounds fun, it can't be any worse than the turkish bus drivers I had  at ephesus.

Currently in Taipei and I must admit it is a little of a disapointment, I am hoping Tianin and HK will be better

cheers thanks again

Actually Bob I have just been to H.K. and we found the bus ride down the peak very nauseating. The bus speeds up and suddenly slows down. Actually as we got on the bus we noticed some vomit under one of the seats - it should have clicked to us then. We also have been to Turkey and the bus ride past Selcuk and Ephesis which we found not bad. Or it may just be we are getting older and less able to stomach these things.
