Has kite boarding made its way to Singapore yet? Do the sailboard shops offer much in the way of kite board equipment, etc.?

I probably will be moving to Singapore soon. It seems like a good time to take up kite boarding, if for no other reason than the whole kit can fit in the boot of a taxi--a significant consideration given that I will not have a personal car to lug around the usual sailboarding stuff...

BTW, how are the winds?Huh

Hmn...wind... there's not a lot of it unless a thunderstorm is brewing...

When the sun is out and no clouds to be seen, then there is generally no wind.

There's actually an article on Kite surfing in today's Project Eyeball.

go to  http://eyeball.asia1.com.sg/html/Eyeball/gallery/index/010605_kitesurfin/

So yes, there's wind. and waves.

Thanks all the for reply.

Clipper, the Eyeball article was very interesting.

I'm not sure the lack of strong winds is a huge problem right now, given my total lack of, uh, strong Kite Sailing skills.

I'm a bit more concerned/intrigued about how Singapore authorities apparently will require Kite Surfers to get permits from both maritime officials (for board-in-the-water part) AND aviation officials (for the kite-in-the-air part).

I guess I see the logic in this, although coming from the country that spawned the corporate slogan "Just Do It," this sort of stuff is going to be new for me...

Yes, we're waiting with bated breath to how the authorities are going to solve this permit problem... I'm sure Project Eyeball will keep us updated, it's quite a nice little paper.

enjoy your stay, if you need any further help - give a holler.
