Tioman

I'm trying to escape for the weekend - does anyone know how long it takes to get to Tioman on the boat and the sailing times?  Also any recommendations on where to stay would be useful

Berjaya is the only big hotel on the island - you can get other cheaper accomodation but it will be quite basic. The ferry is about 4 hrs but you can also fly.

Please please do not stay at the Berjaya resort on Tioman. This resort chain is infamous for building golf resorts on what used to be unspolit islands with great diving. Sadly, the resort uses excessive amounts of fertilizer to "green" their golf ranges which runs off into the surrounding ocean. The ferilizer promotes algae growth which in turn smothers the living coral. This resort group has done this on two other islands off the east coast.
