Is this beach cut off from everything or is it walking distance to restaurants and shops?

Also, anybody stayed/comments on the "new" Surin beach resort hotel?  Thanks

I was at Surin Beach on Monday.  The weather was terrible that particular day and it reminded me of a UK seaside town in winter!  but that aside, I spent some time on the beach there in March and it was lovely.  the people working the sunbeds and bars etc along the beach were great - really friendly.

The beach has this grassy area between it and the streets, but the buildings are very close to the beach (2 minute walk).  The beach itself has bars and restaurant 'shacks' along it which do cheap food.

A short walk gets you to the built up area.  It is all very close and seems compact, although I haven't stayed there, so there may be more to the place than what I've seen.

Don't know about the resort, sorry.

We have just returned from Phuket.  We stayed at Treetops Arasia Resort, which is a rather new boutique resort in Surin Beach area.  This resort is nestled on a hillside directly facing Surin Beach.  We were staying in a Jamjuree Suite consisting of a large terrace facing the sea with two sunbeds , an outdoor jacuuzi, a pond by the entrance, a private garden with shower and fountain, a gorgeous bathroom, and good-sized bedroom and lounge.  The staff were friendly and attentive.  It definitely suits couples who seek a quiet, relaxing break.    We got a good deal due to low season and enjoyed our stay very much.

We just came back from a five day holiday at Surin Beach. It was AWFUL. The beach was so derelict and anytime the traders saw someone, ie. us they pounced. So many places closed and left to rack and ruin.  We jumped on a took took everyday and headed to Patong just because we wanted to see other people!
