heard that the water at bintan is not condusive to swimming. is this true? if not which is the best place to stay at?

i went to bintan last weekend and had approximately 15 swims over two days and I'm still alive. Ok the water's a little salty- but definitely not enough to stay out of the water.

Was in Bintan last weekend.  The sea was fairly shallow (Nirwana beach) but it was very calm.  Out for a few hours without any encounter with any shark, so I reckon it's probably OK

Bintan is great for swimming, the beach at Mana Mana is great so is the next beach.
