I was in SIN for about 2.5 years and enjoyed my stay over ther. Then I moved to London area for my new job and not really enjoying the culture over there and the job i'm doing. Now I would like to come back but have some concerns as when i left SIN i dod not inform my employer as he was'nt releiving me. I just left SIN. Though I settled my dues like PUB and other stuff... i'm not sure abt the tax. Hope my empoyer must have settled it for me but not sure as they never told me and held up my last salary. I tried to contact the employer to get the info regd tax.. but came to know the co. has been closed and they are no more there. I'm in a confused state as now i have offer frm a SIN co.. but fearing if I return maybe i can face some trouble from EP dept. Now can i come back and i'm ready to settle any tax dues ??

Any suggestions or advice are welcome.

I'm assuming you've tried                       http://www.iras.gov.sg/...  They might be able to help ya.. (Tax is marvellously low - compared to London so even if you DO get hit by a bill it shouldn't be too painful)

Joe....what goes around,comes around.

You want to come back to a country which you left in dubious circumstances without settling your tax obligations?

No chance, buddy!

Tax avoidance is seen as a very serious thing here.....even relatively low income earners get hit hard if they don't pay the right amount of tax.

Doing a runner without settling your tax, leaving your employer in the lurch? Yeah, I'm sure the authorities will take a very positive view of that and will welcome you with open arms.
